Abstract
- The article focuses on the works of literature and popular culture in South Africa in the 1970s and 1980s. It is stated that such works influenced the societal practices across the state. According to the author, the cultural practices of the past usually describe in literary works greatly reflects the practices of the future. Here, it presents several literary creations including the poem "The Black Mamba Rises Again In Victory," the play "The Long March" and the epic "Emperor Shaka the Great," by Mazisi Kunene.
