Abstract
- The article reports on a multi-million-dollar grant given to various local adult/volunteer literacy, family literacy, and workplace-skills enhancement programs in Illinois by U.S. Secretary of State Jesse White. Funds were awarded to programs including one at John A. Logan College in Carterville and another at Platinum Converting Inc. in Itasca, along with the DeWitt-Livingston-McLean literacy program in Normal. Services include teaching adults basic reading, writing, and math skills.
