Abstract
- The article discusses the study which focuses on the role played by microbiotic soil crusts in addressing soil erosion of loess-derived soils in a cropland in Belgium. It states that the study's results were gathered through a field survey, which focuses on three factors including the development of non-biological soil surface, the formation of soil through algae and the development of algal mat and evaluating the effect of microbiotic crust to soil erosion. The study reveals that microbiotic soil crusts grow in areas where maize, sugar beet and wheat are planted, therefore entails that soil crusts develop in cropland under temperate climate.
