Abstract

The author relates on the debate of depression between Professor Gordon Parker at the University of New South Wales and opponent Ian Hickie from the University of Sydney. Parker argued that depression is over diagnosed due to drug marketing. He cited his study of 242 teachers where 95% of them felt depression. But Hickie opposed to the idea that depression is over diagnosed because he believes that depression therapy is cost-effective.
