Abstract

The article discusses the double discourse of regionalism in the Asia Pacific. The section aims to take a broader look at East Asia regionalism, that is to seek it as a socio-political and ideational phenomena as much as an economic one. It provides some definitional outlines of the relevant aspects of the emergence of regionalism in East Asia and the Pacific in recent years. It looks at the distinction between de facto structural economic regionalization on the one hand and de jure institutional economic cooperation on the other.
