Abstract

The article reports that the corporate bond market in Europe surpassed the U.S. corporate bond market in 2006 by $500 billion. In 2002, U.S. corporate bond market was worth $100 million more than the European market, but regulatory overhauls in Europe cut transaction costs to U.S. levels. The unified European financial market is larger than the U.S. market.
