Abstract

OVERVIEW: Innovation has always been a marriage of what's needed with what's possible. Originally, "what's possible" was about technology, but at Procter & Gamble today it's about creating and delivering a superior experience for the consumer. And that comes from truly understanding consumer needs. This requires a new kind of R&D leader, someone who combines imagination and worldwide knowledge with action, and, in addition, is an inspirational individual who exhibits curiosity and courage, practices collaboration, asks the right questions, and is able to "communicate the dream."
