Abstract
- The article discusses the Treatment for Adolescents With Depression Study which evaluates the effectiveness of flouxetine hydrochloride therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and their combination in adolescents with major depressive disorder. The authors used a randomized controlled trial with 327 patients aged 12 to 17 years in 13 academic and community sites in the United States. They found out that adolescents with moderate to severe depression who went through fluoxetine treatment or in combination with CBT accelerated the response and adding CBT to medication can heighten the safety of medication.
