Abstract
- The article describes a study that compares the concentration of suspended sediment in two small streams in France to discharges. Both suspended sediment and discharges were measured at the outlets on a yearly and monthly basis, with flood and non-flood periods taken into account. Data revealed that the relationship between suspended sediment concentration and discharge varied greatly, leading to the conclusion that cattle trampling and hydraulic erosion of stream banks are the two chief causes of sediment accumulating in stream catchments.
