Abstract

The article presents a multi-objective particle swarm optimization method for generating optimal solutions to problems in reservoir operation. Reservoir operation frequently demands that competing objectives be balanced. An approach for optimizing tradeoffs is therefore essential. The authors present a particle swarm algorithm and apply it first against test data, and then to a case study involving the Bhadra reservoir in India. Results in both instances were encouraging, and in the case of Bhadra evinced a superior methodology.
