Abstract
- The section of "Developments in Medical Textiles," focuses on various types of medical fibers. The first type of fibers include bioabsorbable and biodegradable fibres, which includes cotton, viscose, collagen, chitin, chitosan, and other protein fibres which have the property to be absorbed by the body within two or three months. The fibers produced from natural polymers are reported to play an important role in producing bioabsorbable fibres for a wide variety of medical applications, including wound dressings, sutures, nonwoven felts, and meshes.
