Abstract

The article offers information on Epilykos who was named as kalos, a form of epigraph found on attic vases, for at least 19 times from the year 515-505. Fourteen of the vases were done by a single painter, Skythes. Among the remaining five, two are cups made by the Pedieus Painter, one is a cup linked to Skythes, the last one is also a cup linked to the Carpenter Painter. Moreover, the author tried to distinguish other members of prominent Athenian families in the late 6th century through kalos names and ostraka. It is noted that in some cases, same family occurred in a single vase painter's work.
