Eszopiclone is a nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic that modulates the γ-amino butyric acid Areceptor complex. It has been shown to be effective at improving sleep initiation and maintenance in trials lasting up to 12 months and has been associated with improvement in medical disorders with high rates of comorbid insomnia including depression, anxiety, pain disorders and menopause.
