The article reports on the progress of plough in Ireland. With the invention of steel the robustness of the plough and its adaptability to all soil types increased greatly in the country. However, the rigid plough has been almost replaced by various spring-loaded versions that have reduced, indeed almost eliminated, breakages due to hitting large foreign objects.
