Abstract
- This paper summarizes theory and empirical evidence that shows the Internet spurs real private investment expenditure among larger regional communities by enabling agglomeration among areas with a pre-existing cluster of entrepreneurial activities. For small and more remote rural communities, the Internet enables consumption of items not produced locally, and discourages entrepreneurship among communities that lack a preexisting entrepreneurial cluster.
