Abstract
- The article discusses the highlights of the 18th Annual East Asian Seminar on Economics of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) held on June 22 to 24, 2007. The conference was organized by Takatoshi Ito of the University of Tokyo and NBER, and Andrew K. Rose of the University of California, Berkeley and NBER. The papers presented and discussed at the conference include "Consolidation of Banks in Japan: Causes and Consequences," by Kaoru Hosono, Koji Sakai and Kotaro Tsuru.
