Abstract

The article looks at life in Tibet and how it is affected by Chinese occupation. The author mentions the difficulty in seeing the Dalai Lama, which results in many Tibetan pilgrims being imprisoned, forced into hard labor, tortured, or used for target practice. A Chinese law prohibits Tibetans from reincarnating without government permission. Government bars all curriculum that is not subject to Chinese oversight and has banned books about Buddhism.
