Abstract
- The article discusses the emigration since 1954 of some 400,000 or 6% of Finns to Sweden in search of employment. Sweden offers up to 30% higher wages than are to be had in Finland and a correspondingly higher standard of living supplemented by social benefits. Paradoxically, the emigration of this so-called "lost generation" has led to even higher unemployment in Finland.
