Abstract

The article discusses the importance of hydraulic brake fluid maintenance in vehicle safety. Some causes of hydraulic leaks are external forces such as abrasion or impact damage to tubing/hoses and internal problems like caliper-seal or piston-cup failure or tubing rust-through. The presence of copper in the fluid is an early sign of brake fluid breakdown. There are test strips available to specifically determine brake fluid copper content.
