Abstract

Martensitic, magnetic transformations, and crystal structures in Pd–In–Fe alloys were investigated. It was confirmed that some Pd–In–Fe alloys show martensitic transformation from a Heusler-type (L2<subscript>1</subscript>) ordered bcc phase to a 2M-type (DO<subscript>22</subscript>) structure and that an almost perfect superelastic effect accompany the transformation can be obtained. Furthermore, some alloys show transformation from the paramagnetic parent phase to the ferromagnetic martensite phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
