Abstract

The article reports on a confidential Connecting for Health briefing paper for the prime minister, which claims that much of the National Health Service's 12.4 billion National Program for Information Technology is complete in Great Britain. The paper, dated February 19, 2007 is set to be realized although an integrated national care record system has yet to materialize, and software delivered under the scheme has been criticized by some legacy information technology suppliers as not yet fit for purpose. Further, the paper put the progress towards a life-long health record service at about 35%.
