Abstract

The article reports on the energy white paper of the federal government that will put pressure to datacenter owners operating in Great Britain. The white paper, which aims to cut carbon emissions, sets out a mandatory "cap and trade" regime that requires companies to purchase energy allowances if they use more than 3,000 megawatt hours of electricity. According to Charlotte Eddington, power specialist and senior surveyor at CBRE, the proposal would certainly put datacenter within the scheme because they use large amounts of electricity. Thus, it would give them pressure to improve the energy efficiency of their facilities.
