Abstract: The article presents commentary on various international and domestic U.S. politics as of the week of August 7, 1971. The diplomatic logistics of President Richard Nixon's visit to Peking, China to meet with the head of the Peoples Republic of China is discussed in detail. Congressional efforts towards reducing poverty are outlined, including criticism on several government paradigms and welfare systems. Statements by senators against campaign spending are explored.
