Abstract

The article talks about disruptive technology in machining and metalworking. The author defines disruptive technology as a process of abandoning the old method and replacing it with a new and different method that has not yet been considered. Mounting a button-shaped turning tool in a live toolholder, aiming fine streams of coolant at the workpiece and using a motorized grinding wheel mounted in the tool turret are some of the examples of disruptive technology in machining.
