Abstract
- This study examines four classes of college students involved in service learning projects. Each class researched and wrote an investigative story that was published. The majority of students said they believe the projects provided them with the skills required for investigative reporting, increased their motivation to study, and enhanced their desire to make a positive difference in their community. The projects also prompted two foundations to award $150,000 in grant money to support similar work in the future. The study suggests that investigative reporting provides a viable approach for service learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
