Abstract

The article discusses breast screening guidelines with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as an adjunct to mammography that were issued by the American Cancer Society. Screening MRI is advised for women with around 20-25% or greater lifetime risk of breast cancer, including women with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer. There are risk subgroups for which the available data are inadequate to recommend for or against screening, including women with personal history of breast cancer.
