Abstract
- The article responds to an article written by Wendy Dobson and Anil Kashyap on gradualist banking reforms in China. Details about the problems in the Chinese banking system are provided and their part in the problems facing the Chinese financial system are explored. China's financial system is compared with Japan's financial system of the late 20th century. The need for China to learn from the economic troubles suffered by Japan is discussed. The efforts of Chinese banks to draw customers and deposits are also explored.
