Abstract

Reports a study which examines the immunodeficiency syndrome caused by mutation in a DNA methyltransferase gene in patients with the recessive autosomal disorder known as ICF syndrome. Why most ICF patients succumb to infectious diseases before adulthood; Observation that ICF syndrome is the only genetic disorder known to involve abnormalities of genomic methylation patterns; Role of enzymes.
