Abstract
- The author discusses the nature of the statement "We are going to art," as in going to an art class at school. The author asserts that there is a childlike attitude expressed by schoolchildren when they speak about making art. Children have not yet been made to view art as an unproductive pursuit. They go to art class and they unselfconsciously make art, and as such are practicing becoming authentically creative disclosers of the world and self. The example of Robert Rauschenburg, who erased a drawing by Willem de Kooning, is discussed. The differences between art and craft are discussed.
