Abstract
- The article focuses on two clinical conditions that illustrate the link between psychiatry and neuroscience. The dementia syndrome of depression called pseudodementia syndrome is a cognitive disorder in which there is no apparent injury to the cerebral cortex although its function is impaired by unknown mechanisms. The other condition is depression following stroke. In this condition, the patient develops a depressed mood with sleep, appetite disturbance and hopelessness that can last for months after the stroke.
