Abstract
- The article focuses on Franz Alfred Six, a German university dean, a senior officer in the Reich Security Service, leader of an Einsatz unit, diplomat and a leading Nazi idealogue. He was sentenced at Nuremberg for war crimes, then freed and recruited into the Gehlen organization. His career trajectory raises questions about hot de-Nazification was undermined by sections of Western intelligence.
