Abstract

The article reports on the case of a patient who had cardiac arrest with apnea and convulsions after electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). A 29-year-old patient was readmitted in a hospital due to a recurrence of depressive psychosis, identified with ideas of reference and delusions involving cancer. She was scheduled for a series of ECT after reassessing her clinical state. After the treatments, causes of apnea and cardiac arrest have overlapped. It has been suggested to not give repeated shocks to patients with cardiac arrhythmia.
