Abstract

The article presents a research related to fishmeal replacement with the use of alfalfa protein concentrate. Alfalfa protein concentrate has been used in terrestrial animal feeds because it is rich in protein and it contains balanced amino acids profile, vitamins, and carotenoids. A feeding trial was conducted to sharp snout sea bream Diplodus puntazzo to assess the possibility of replacing fishmeal with alfalfa protein concentrate. The study indicated that though plant protein sources form part of the diet, alfalfa protein concentrate cannot support growth equivalent to fishmeal.
