Abstract
- The article presents an introduction to bond graphs for control engineers. The bond graph method is firmly grounded in the familiar concept of energy and power. They represent power transactions between components. Using generic components and variables makes modeling multidomain systems simpler and allows engineers to analyze complex problems and interactions that might normally be hidden by more traditional approaches to subsystem division and analysis. Bond graphs enable modelers to easily identify potentially troublesome areas of system representations and to quickly determine the form of remedy that will make the model appropriate for the task in hand.
