Abstract: The article examines the extent to which periodic health examinations (PHEs) contribute to the delivery of cancer screening. The association between receipt of a PHE and cancer testing was determined in a population-based sample of enrollees in a health plan in Washington who were aged 52 to 78. It is viewed that the PHE may serve as a clinically important forum for the promotion of evidence-based colorectal cancer and breast cancer screening.
