Abstract

The article discusses how controversies surrounding Israel and Palestine relationships are being seen in universities and colleges in the U.S. The article focuses on one such controversy involving Brandeis University taking down a display called "Voices of Palestine," which was an exhibit of artworks by Palestinian youths. Brandeis University, which is known for having a large majority of Jewish students and donators, was also criticized by some in the Jewish community for having former United States President Jimmy Carter speak at the school. Carter's book "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid" is very critical of Israel's involvement in the Israel-Palestine conflict. The article examines the problems Brandeis University, and others, have in trying to present the conflict in unbiased terms. INSET: Wars of Words.
