Abstract

The article presents the authors' response to S. Gorard and J. Fitz's 2006 article "What counts as evidence in the school choice debate?" The authors question Gorard and Fitz's weighing of local education agencies by size as well as their selective use of that system of measure. They comment on Gorard and Fitz's criticism of other writers for failing to read or understand their work, but point out an instance of their having done the same to another set of authors. The authors state that they do not want to get into a debate between academics, but feel that the empirical differences and methodological issues are important.
