Abstract
- The article discusses the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore and the Irish poet William Butler Yeats. The poets admired each other for their poetry and their contributions to the nationalist movements of their respective countries. Anticolonial nationalists criticized both poets. Tagore and Yeats were accused of being pro-British elitists instead of true nationalists. The article argues that the nationalism practiced by Tagore and Yeats more closely resembles new cosmopolitanism than traditional nationalism.
