Abstract
- This article explores the development of special legal services operated by indigenous people in Australia and Canada. Information is presented on indigenous overrepresentation at all levels of the criminal justice system in both countries. The structure, programs, history, clientele and other characteristics of Australia's Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement and the National Counselling Services of Alberta, Canada are discussed, along with the environmental conditions facing both organizations.
