Abstract

The article reports that Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has proposed a host of tax increases, including some on services, and some $300 million of spending cuts as she laid out plans for a $23 billion general fund and school aid fund budget for fiscal 2008. The plan aims to eliminate a cumulative deficit that could reach $2.1 billion. The general fund budget provides for an increase of $500 million more than was appropriated in 2007.
