Food for thought.

The author reflects on the United States food safety system. The Government Accountability Office(GAO) added food safety to its list of 'high-risk' federal policies and programmes most in need of reform. Serious concerns are raised for food safety system in the United States. Three steps are suggested which include an inter-agency panel to coordinate food safety, a revision of laws governing food safety and a research program coordinated and supported for informing food safety policy, practice.
