Abstract

The article shows the role of biogas as one of the energy sources in the United States of America and several European Union countries. The advantages of biogas recovery and increased financial support from state and federal programs have led to a substantial increase in the number of systems in the United States. Great Britain and Germany are the leading European countries in terms of crude biogas production and utilization. Sweden has problems with the inefficient utilization of manure instruments. There is no activity regarding of waste treatment in Spain. A chart of estimated energy production from biogas in the year 2020 is presented.
