Abstract
- The author associates several herbs with her Italian ethnicity and describes the culinary tradition inherited by her Sicilian mother and French father. She recalls that her mother could not and did not cook at least during the 30 years of her marriage. However, she was obliged to do so on her intermittent visits to her daughter's family in New York City. Tarragon and oregano were the mostly used spices by her mother.
