Abstract

The article reports that a confidential paper issued to the board of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHNT) states that new initiatives under the £12.4 billion National Programme for IT (NPfIT) are under-funded and over-ambitious. It must be noted that LTHNT is the largest trust in Great Britain. The NPfIT was set up mainly to give 50 million people in England an electronic health record they could see and alter, and which would be accessible across the country by authorized clinicians.
