Abstract

The article reports on the Podarcis muralis, the common wall lizard, which is fast mutiplying in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was brought from Italy in 1951, by a young member of the Lazarus family, George Rau. They've done so well that a study under Professor Dan Gist at the University of Cincinnati in 2001, found that Rau's lizards had spread to an area covering roughly six square kilometers as the climate and rainfall are very similar to their Italian turf.
