Abstract: The author discusses the impact of the AIDS virus on Gay American Indians (GAI) membership. He notes that the organization have lost 84 members to the AIDS virus. To prepare for the virus, the GAI board and its membership organized a cross-training at Shanti project and the SFAF volunteer hotline service. Also, the GAI leadership established the Indian AIDS Project to provide emotional, practical and spiritual support for those men and women living with AIDS.
