Abstract

The article discusses a research by University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory director Gerard P. Kuiper on the infrared radiation from Jupiter. The research indicates that the planet radiates about two and a half times more heat than it receives from the sun. There is no evidence that Jupiter's energy output is due to the thermonuclear processes that illuminate the bodies that are usually regarded as stars.
