Abstract

The article focuses on the company Wockhardt. The company currently markets about 14 products in the U.S., and in August 2006, received approval from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to sell a broad-spectrum antibiotic called Cefotaxime Sodium. Founded by pharmacologist Habil Khorakiwala, its strategy is to grow organically and through acquisitions. It has set up nine global subsidiaries, and the U.S. and Europe accounted for about half of its $285 million net sales in 2005.
