Abstract
- The article presents an economic analysis for grade divergence using market outcomes as explanatory variables from a data set encompassing a sample of 648 colleges and universities for the academic year 1992-1993 in the U.S. The study found that fields of older students and those with a higher percentage of female students had higher average grade point averages (GPAs). On the other hand, those with higher percentage of minorities had lower average GPAs. According to the study, market outcomes are not significant explanatory variables of overall grade point average.
