Abstract

The article presents information on the licensing of business enterprises in Japan. Any business firm with patents, trademarks or other intellectual property may sign a licensing agreement with a Japanese company. The agreements are private, and there is no need for the foreign firm to establish a presence in the country. Patents are given to the first person to file an application for a specific invention rather than to the first person to invent it.
